When extensions come out, their life as extensions is over. But the hair itself isn't finished — it's still human hair, grown by someone, sold by someone, shipped across the world. It's still beautiful. And the industry teaches everyone that it goes in the trash.

ReCrown
ReCrown is a custom scalp prosthesis for people living with hair loss — from chemotherapy, from alopecia, from any cause at all — built by hand in our Toronto studio from reclaimed extension hair.
Each piece is cast to fit, colour-matched to your scalp, and made from professionally sanitized, reclaimed remy hair. Because the material is rescued rather than newly sourced, a ReCrown costs a fraction of what the established methods charge.
One client, one chair
A client with alopecia sat in our chair needing a topper that didn't exist — nothing that fit, and nothing they could afford. Meanwhile, we knew exactly how much good hair leaves salons like ours every single day.
The Crown Project is those two problems solving each other.
It works
It took almost a year. The courses that teach this craft overseas build these pieces with adhesives we weren't willing to put against skin that's already fragile — so we taught ourselves the chemistry and built the process from scratch. Piece after piece failed, and each one taught us what the next one needed.
First fittings are coming.
A second life, by choice
Our clients decide what happens to their extensions. When a set comes out, they can choose to donate it to The Crown Project instead of sending it to landfill. The hair is inspected, professionally sanitized, and given a second life.
